When I walked into a local gallery and saw Kelly's horse painting on the wall, it compelled me to stay a while to observe it, sat down, and came back again. Then to meet her and find out her background with these beautiful animals, I understood how she was able to capture them in such a beautiful way. From her simple sketches to her larger paintings, I can feel the energy of the animals she paints.

Horses have always been in my soul, even when they were not a part of my life. I got my first job with horses at 15 years old, and was in disbelief that I got paid to ride a horse all day! Fast forward to present day, 30 plus years later of riding and working with horses, the desire to create art bubbled to the surface of my being. Just putting horses now to a piece of paper, wood and even an occasional sculpture, I can feel their bodies as I create them. After learning more on color theory I now very much enjoy putting horses in sun/shade, to play with warms and cools, get a sense of space and depth. I want the viewer to feel the horse, look into his eye, see the kindness but also feel the power. Horses seem to bring out so much emotion, I want that to be felt in my
work.
